Standard Carrier Alpha Code (SCAC) – Used to identify vessel operating common carriers. The National Motor Freight Traffic Association developed the SCAC code in the 1960s to help road transport companies computerize data and records. For example, Century Express’s code is CEXQ, while Maersk’s is MAEU, UPS’ is UPSN, and CMA’s is CMDU.
