Master Bill of Lading (MBL)
Master Bill of Lading (MBL) – A document issued by the carrier or its agent to the shipper, acknowledging receipt of the goods for shipment. It serves as a contract of carriage between the shipper and the carrier and contains essential information such as the names and addresses of the shipper, consignee, and carrier, details of the goods being transported, and terms and conditions of carriage. The MBL is issued when multiple shipments are consolidated into a single shipment for carriage to a particular destination. It acts as the primary document for the entire shipment and may be used to generate other Bills of Lading, such as House Bills of Lading, for individual shipments within the consolidated cargo.
