Bill of Lading (BOL)
Bill of Lading (BOL) or Original Bill of Lading (OBL) – A legal document issued by a carrier or its agent to the shipper as evidence of the receipt of goods for shipment. It serves as a contract of carriage between the shipper and the carrier and contains crucial information about the goods being transported, including their description, quantity, and destination. There are two categories of BOL in the general classification: negotiable and non-negotiable. A negotiable BOL can be transferred to finance goods and gives the holder the right to possess them, while a non-negotiable BOL cannot.
