Mexico

Leveraging the longest coastline in Latin America at more than 9,330 km and extensive access to both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, Mexico’s maritime capabilities have grown exponential over the past few decades, recording an 85.8% increase in TEU throughput across its ports between 2011 and 2021.

Its direct access to the US has facilitated the growth of intermodal cross-border capabilities in recent years which have enhanced Mexico’s reputation as a connection and transshipment hub for European, North American, South American, African, and East Asian trade. Its premier port, the Port of Manzanillo, ranks 11th in the Americas by volume, handling 3.37 million TEUs (48% of Mexico’s total TEU volume) in 2021.
