Due to its sheltered, deep-water port capabilities along the eastern side of the Gulf of Thailand, Cambodia possesses incredible potential for expanding its port infrastructure, despite having a relatively short coastline of just 433 km. It ranks as the third fastest growing nation in Southeast Asia for 2022 and, with the right investment, has the ability to grow into a key player in the future of global maritime trade.
The country’s premier port, Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, with an annual capacity of 700,000 TEUs, will soon be supplemented by the new US$1.5 billion mega construction project of Kampot Port in the south of the country. The Kampot International Multi-Purpose Logistics and Port Center will stretch across 600 hectares and have an annual capacity of 600,000 TEUs by 2030.
